Place of Birth: Geisha Minah (slave colony)

Appearance
Regal in appearance, she is the definition of rare beauty. Her skin is flawless, smooth like porcelain, soft like silk, her curves treasured by men and coveted by women. Her attire tends to vary, but it is almost always something elegant and in some shade of purple to match her gorgeous hair and eyes. She also favors jewelry, particularly things made of gold.
Personality
On the surface, projects an image of haughtiness and bravado. The life of the party, the center of attention. A shining beacon of brilliance. Deep down, however, she is rather insecure, and often childish. She becomes easily enraged when things do not go her way, and can be incredibly petty and vindictive as a result. Does not trust anyone for fear of being betrayed. Prone to breaking down, often cries alone, sinking into depressive states, only to bounce back and become determined and energetic. In spite of her numerous flaws, she is a good person at her core, and will generally (if rather begrudgingly) do the right thing in the end.
Skills, Powers and Abilities
Natural Ether Conduit - Mana: Viola possesses a natural ability to channel Mana type Ether, which results in her being exceptionally skilled at wizardry and other "magical" arts. Her power is such that she has the potential to inflict widespread destruction on a planetary scale, although she herself isn't aware of this fact at current.
Elric Style Alchemy: A skill she picked up on an adventure to a certain world after observing a pissed-off short kid conjuring various weapons and effects seemingly out of nowhere. While not true "alchemy" in the same sense as the ability that the kid utilized, it essentially emulates it and produces the same results, via Mana manipulation. Viola is fairly adept with this method, and is able to conjure various weapons and other useful things such as stone walls, platforms, and physical projectiles.
Combat Arts: While she's not particularly strong or fast (no more so than any typical human female), she's a skilled melee combatant in her own right, which enables her to take many opponents by surprise. She can't last too terribly long in a drawn-out physical confrontation though, at least not without bolstering her abilities through magic. But even then, her true strength lies in mid to long-range. Basically, she can fend off enemies who manage to get in close, but only up to a point.
Clever Girl: She's a crafty one, that's for sure. Able to come up with unusual but highly effective solutions to all manner of problems. Also quick witted, which serves her well when conning people.
Sneaky Sneak: Not a ninja or anything, but she's pretty adept as sneaking around undetected.
Charlatan Supreme: A professional con artist. She possesses all of the necessary skills to excel in this field, and then some.
Weapons
Merlin's Legacy - The Four Grimoires: During his long and storied life, Merlin worked tirelessly towards the singular goal of realizing a "Unified Theory of Magic". Unfortunately, even with all of his brilliance and natural gifts, he was unable to achieve his ultimate goal. The Four Grimoires are the culmination of his life's work. They contain nearly unfathomable powers, and grant those with enough willpower and talent, practically limitless access to all sorts of spells, from mundane all the way up to, potentially, cosmic-level.
Grimoire Imperatus Gladius: Imperial magic tome, used for conjuring powerful magical items/weapons, etc.
Grimoire Draconis Noctis: Draconic magic tome, used for unleashing extremely powerful offensive magic.
Grimoire Angelus Solus: Angelic magic tome, used for manifesting extremely powerful healing/protective magic.
Grimoire Necrolis Lucavis: Demonic magic tome, used for a variety of extremely powerful "forbidden" effects.
Pendragon Crest Staff: Merlin's staff, emblazoned with the Pendragon Crest. Made from rare, powerful materials that channel and focus Mana to unrivaled levels. Also good for bonking heads with.
Belligerent Bowgun: A custom-made compact crossbow infused with magic. Fires projectiles that are conjured via Mana energy, and can take on various properties, such as elements or status effects. Not especially powerful, but useful against basic enemies and for quick crowd control.
Armor
Eye of Athena: A circlet with an gleaming emerald set within it. Heightens the senses of the wearer, and enables the wearer to discern various unseen details about enemies and surroundings.
Aphrodite's Bustier: Made of divine materials that offer exceptional physical protection, and greatly assists in the casting of defensive barrier spells.
Cape of Artemis: A cape that hastens physical movement speed, enabling the wearer to move swiftly and with greater agility.
Queen Hera's Gloves: Gloves that grant the wearer enhanced physical abilities, multiplying strength up to ten times whatever their baseline level happens to be. (Must be used sparingly at higher levels, otherwise risking injury).
Accessories
Minerva Ribbon EX+: A magically enhanced version of the classic "Ribbon" accessory. Guards against all abnormal status effects, and additionally grants increased protection against the elements of Fire, Ice, and Lightning.
Other Items
Magic Bag-O-Tricks: A magical bag that contains a pocket-dimension to facilitate the carrying of and easy access to all kinds of useful items and tools.
Biography
A traveling con artist and professional thief who makes her living by scamming rich people, ripping off casinos, robbing museums, and raiding ruins. She has built up quite the reputation in some circles, and also racked up quite a few bounties, as the infamous "Killer Queen".
History
Born on the slave colony of Geisha Minah, Viola was torn from her parents (father, a soldier of the Dimensional Federation, mother, a scientist) almost immediately and sold off to the excessively wealthy aristocratic Von Hipper family, to be brought up as a servant. And so she lived and worked under difficult, if somewhat stable conditions for much of her childhood. Her daily existence was filled with chores and boredom, but she was able to find the occasional happiness here and there, thanks in large part to the mischievous middle child of Duke Von Hipper, one Claudette Von Hipper. Claudette wasn't particularly altruistic, or even all that kind. She was rather cruel, actually, but her cruelty was reserved primarily for her fellow family members, particularly her younger sister and elder brother, with whom she shared bitter rivalries. Viola and her fellow servants often found themselves in the middle of the petty squabbles of the Von Hipper siblings, but as a result, Viola ended up being taken along on various outings and adventures with Claudette. Of course, when things went south (as they frequently did), Viola and the other servants typically bore the brunt of the punishments as well. Still, any time spent away from the estate was always something that Viola cherished, as it served to satisfy her increasingly restless spirit.
Things went on like this until Viola's 13th year with the Von Hippers. The eldest son, Claudius II, had joined the military, and went off to serve as an officer in some far-off war. Something about "bringing glory to the family name". The younger daughter, Claudia, had been sent off to a prestigious boarding school to study. Claudette, meanwhile, had largely outgrown her childish ways, and was about to be married off to the head of another high-ranking noble family: Count Herbert Regalius. The first time Viola saw the Count, it sent chills up and down her spine. The man was fearsome, and seemed to radiate a dark, evil energy. For whatever reason, however, nobody else appeared to be attuned to this. Maybe they were just better at concealing their true feelings? Or maybe they really couldn't see it? Either way, the appearance of the Count marked a dark turning point for Viola's otherwise simple life.
At first, it was just little things. Strange shadows lurking, rumors of ghosts and otherworldly creatures being sighted. Typically dismissed as ramblings of crazy people. But over time, the shadows became tangible as people began disappearing, alongside livestock being slaughtered and crops being ruined. And then, out of nowhere, the unthinkable happened: Duke Von Hipper himself, gruesomely slain by ghouls in his own bedchamber. It was a shock to everyone, especially Claudette, who had already been under excessive amounts of stress, although nobody could figure out why. Nobody except for Viola. Unfortunately, she had nobody to turn to, nobody who would listen to her. Of course, even if she had someone to confide in, it's not like they'd have been able to do anything about it. But Viola knew. She knew that all of this darkness and misery was because of the Count. He was evil, and he was corrupting everything, somehow.
Every night was filled with horror. Restful sleep, a thing of the past. Viola noticed a steady decline in Claudette's appearance and demeanor as well. She wasn't eating, wasn't sleeping, wasn't washing. The manor deteriorated steadily along with Claudette. Soon, servants began taking ill. Those who didn't die, became sickly, ghastly shells of their former selves, seemingly awash in the negative influence of the Count's power. For some reason, however, Viola seemed immune to the blight of the Count. Which, eventually, and quite unfortunately for Viola, became evident to the Count himself.
At first, the Count seemed fascinated by Viola. He approached her with kind words and gentlemanly charm, offering her trinkets and gifts. He seemed genuinely interested in her. But Viola was unable to accept any of it. Her fear and unease were much too great, and it wasn't long before the Count became annoyed by her, and that annoyance eventually devolved into downright malice. Yet, he did not simply dispose of Viola. No, that would be far too easy and forgiving. Viola was an affront, and she needed to be punished accordingly.
Her simple, chore-filled days of boredom and occasional adventure, had been twisted into arduous days and nights filled with terror at the hands of the sadistic count and his dark minions.
She endured months of unspeakable torture, both physical and mental, before something stirred within her, something that had been there all along, but had only been waiting for the right time to emerge. It was her innate power, her natural ability to channel Ether, specifically of the "Mana" variety. This was also why she and she alone had been attuned to the sinister nature of the Count from the beginning. It had all been due to her latent, yet still immature powers.
One night, as she was being beaten by the Count, her body seemed to give out. To shut down. She laid there, limp, bleeding from a gash on her head, perfectly still. The Count scoffed, thinking he had finally gone too far and broken the frail little thing. But then a bolt of purple lightning split the sky, and the girl's eyes flashed open, blazing with raw Mana which erupted outward, consuming everything in its path, eradicating not only the Count, but also Claudette and all of the corrupted entities residing at the Von Hipper Estate.
Some time later, Viola awoke to find herself in the center of what appeared to be a derelict ruin that turned out to be the Von Hipper estate. But it was now situated in the middle of what appeared to be a barren, stark-white desert. An unfamiliar sun blazed overheard, scorching the land around her, assaulting her with its searing rays. She searched for survivors, but there were none. Frightened and alone, she set out, leaving the desolate ruins, and her former life, behind.
A frail, 13-year-old girl with no supplies and zero survival training couldn't be expected to last very long even under the most optimistic circumstances, so it was nothing short of miraculous that Viola got as far as she did. Severely dehydrated, starving and emaciated, she collapsed just as a strange figure wrapped in robes from head to toe appeared before her, blotting out the sun. The last thing she saw before passing out was a hand being extended towards her...
She awoke in an unfamiliar bed, her body wrapped in some sort of bandages. She felt both warm and cool at the same time. It was very...soothing. Like nothing she'd ever felt before. For a time, she drifted in and out of consciousness, only vaguely aware of a "presence" that seemed to be watching over her. Somehow, she knew it wasn't malicious. It was caring for her. Protecting her. With this in mind, she was able to rest easy for the first time in...well, perhaps forever. Several days passed before she had finally rested and recovered enough to awaken properly. She sat up and was greeted by the smiling face of an old bearded man.
Turns out, his name was Merlin, and he was a wizard. A big damn important wizard.
Now, why such a legendary figure was mucking about alone living as a hermit on a backwoods desert planet would be anyone's guess. Viola had no idea who he was, anyway, but she would learn all in good time.
Boy, would she learn things.
From then on, Viola lived with Merlin, who trained her in the ways of magic. He could see her natural gifts, and knew that they needed to be nurtured properly so she could channel her abilities in ways that could be used for good, rather than for ill. He did his best to instill these ideas into his young apprentice, but her long years of servitude, coupled with the trauma that she experienced at the hands of the Count, had damaged her psyche and warped her personality rather drastically. Still, in spite of that, the old wizard did what he could and managed to raise her into a fine, mage...though her personality left a lot to be desired.
She definitely cared for and looked up to Merlin, though. He was her savior and mentor, after all. But she felt so suffocated, day after day, doing nothing but studying and researching alongside the stuffy old man. The planet was a wasteland, filled with nothing but dusty old ruins, salt, and sand. It was absolutely unbearable, and eventually she'd simply had enough. She had to get out. And so, one night shortly after her 18th birthday, she took her leave as Merlin slept, via the advanced teleportation spell that she had taught herself in secret.
As it turned out, Merlin knew this was coming, and took appropriate steps. That night, he slipped his Four Grimoires into Viola's travel bag, along with a note telling her to go out and seek her adventure, but to always remember to stay on the path of righteous knowledge. And also that she was a rude, ungrateful brat! But she would always be welcome to return whenever she felt the need to.
It's been just over ten years since then.
Other Information
While out gallivanting around, wheeling and dealing and generally causing trouble, her public persona is that of an elegant, regal figure. She typically poses as a baroness or something along those lines in order to gain access to high society events and functions. This is in very stark contrast to how she actually lives and acts while alone, away from prying eyes. Her ship is basically a floating trash heap. Her living quarters are abysmal, with clothes, dishes and garbage strewn about haphazardly. When she's not in the middle of a scam or something to that effect, she sleeps in until late afternoon and generally spends most of her time lazing about doing a whole lot of sweet fuck all.
